Florida manatees seek out the warm waters of the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge. However, human development is reducing their habitat. Also, motorboats pose a risk to manatees. State and federal laws aim to protect the Florida manatee and its habitat while also allowing people to enjoy manatee encounters.
